# Dictionary data — 2026-10-22-e71b942fa7dc

This is the selected data edition, independent of the iOS app. No login,
payment, app installation, acceptance click or license key is required.
Dictionary.sqlite is byte-identical to the selected application database.
CommonWords and the other JSON/SQLite files carry the current editorial,
guide, practice, ordering and search layers. DATA_LICENSE.md and
CONTENT_TERMS.md explain the scope and separate record-level licenses.
Source URLs, contributor credits, PLOS author/DOI/license notices and
the other existing notices are included. Preserve those notices on reuse.
Do not treat separately credited quotations as newly licensed by MiniLabs.

Covered dictionary text, adaptations and MiniLabs data contributions are
offered under CC BY-SA 4.0, to the extent copyright/database rights apply.
Third-party excerpts keep their own recorded terms. App software, logos,
generated audio, private libraries, account files and withheld source
archives are not included. The download/decoder helpers alone are MIT.

Download the parts manually and concatenate them in ascending numeric order,
or run download_data.py with this edition's manifest URL. This reconstructs
an ordinary tar.gz. Extract it using tar or any compatible archive tool.

After extraction, SQLite tables entries/aliases/metadata can be read with
any SQLite reader. Entry payloads in blocks use standard Brotli, not DRM.
Install a separately distributed Brotli decoder with:
    python3 -m pip install Brotli
Then export all entries with the included MIT helper:
    python3 read_dictionary.py dictionary.sqlite > dictionary.jsonl
The helper keeps source fields and separately identifies editorial fields;
the JSON catalogs are also directly readable without the helper.
No outside dictionary API or proprietary runtime is required.

This edition: 1,492,830 source entries/POS records, 1,787,230 source senses,
5,791 retained source example records, 29,750 project example placements.
These are not unique word/sentence counts. 759,531 original source examples
are withheld and are not distributed in this package.
